Heather decided that she wanted to be a vet at age 10 and never looked back.

She graduated from veterinary college in Saskatoon in 1997 and spent 2 years at a mixed animal practice in Whitehorse, where she met her husband.

She then learned all about exotic animal medicine while working at an avian and exotic animal clinic in Calgary for 2 years.

In 2002 Heather and her husband moved to Winnipeg where she has been practicing small and exotic animal medicine ever since.

She has always had a soft spot for wildlife and has volunteered at various wildlife rehabilitation centers since she was a teenager, while in vet school, and as a veterinarian.

She lives with her husband, her teenager and her cat, Daisy and she enjoys reading, sewing, gardening, hiking and camping.
